She has composed music for an assortment of TV shows including Kill Reality, Try My Life, Love is in the Heir and Fight for Fame, all for the E! Network. As a songwriter she released an album of her music in 2004, as well as writing the lyrics to the song ‘From My Window’ for the movie Frankie Starlight.
As a movement specialist (and owner of a pilates studio in Santa Monica, CA) she has been able to combine her knowledge of movement and music by becoming a faculty member with the Los Angeles Film Conducting Intensive where she works with young conductors to connect their bodies and movement to the music they are communicating.
In 2019 Emilie was asked to re-orchestrate the score from the Charles Eames film Toccata for Toy Trains, which was composed in 1957 by her father, Elmer Bernstein. Originally a piece for eight instruments, she re-imagined it for a full orchestra playing live with the film as part of the Silent Films Live festival in Los Angeles. This event led her back into her interest in composing music for film and television in partnership with her brother, composer Peter Bernstein.
